RNase L antibody, clone 2E9, recognizes the interferon (IFN)-inducible 2-5A-dependent ribonuclease L (RNase L), an endoribonuclease involved in antiviral signaling.

It is widely expressed as a latent monomer in most mammalian tissues1.

2’,5’-oligoadenylate synthetase (OAS) is expressed following viral infection and exposure to IFN2.

OAS proteins are activated by dsRNA, resulting in the production of 2’,5’-linked oligoadenylates (2-5A), which bind to latent RNase L, inducing dimerization and activation2.

RNase L inhibits viral replication by cleaving viral and ribosomal RNA3,4 and inducing apoptosis in virus-infected cells5,6.

RNase L is suggested to have antitumor effects, possibly through its pro-apoptotic activity7, and mutations in the RNASEL gene are associated with prostate cancer risk and progression8,9.

Storage and Stability

Functional grade preclinical antibodies may be stored sterile as received at 2-8°C for up to one month. For longer term storage, aseptically aliquot in working volumes without diluting and store at -80°C. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.

Formulation

This monoclonal antibody is aseptically packaged and formulated in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline (150 mM NaCl) PBS pH 7.2 - 7.4 with no carrier protein, potassium, calcium or preservatives added. Due to inherent biochemical properties of antibodies, certain products may be prone to precipitation over time. Precipitation may be removed by aseptic centrifugation and/or filtration.
